Our Team of Expert Instructors

West London Shooting School is proud of our superb team of shooting instructors with over 200 years of teaching experience between them. All are APSI qualified and have extensive experience in the field.

Alan Rose

Senior Instructor at the School – teaching WLSS client’s for over 50 years.  Alan’s tutorage under the great Percy Stanbury, his wealth of knowledge and experience in shooting game plus being the most recognised gun-fitter has made him renowned around the world.   

Mark Heath
With a wealth of experience in both game and clay shooting and a member of the GB Police Team over many years, Mark’s calm professionalism and leadership skills help drive the continuing success of the school. He is also one of our gun-fitting team.


Chris Douneen

Previously represented GB in Olympic Trap, Chris now spends as much time game shooting as he does competitive clays.  He experience and skill are evident and he has earnt himself a reputation for getting the best shooting out his clients.

Willie Cole

Seasonal West London instructor, Estate and Shoot Manager.  Willie now runs WL Sporting Agency in partnership with the Shooting School.  He teaches at the school as often as time allows.  There is no one who knows more about game shooting.

John Timmis
A competitive shot and highly successful member of the GB Police Team for many years. He has coached school and college teams and inspired many Young Shots over the years, he is often asked to shoot in Gun Dog Trials. He also frequently hosts corporate parties at the School.

Richard Weller
A keen game and competition shot (GB Police Team) he is an experienced instructor in the field and also a gun dog enthusiast. A frequent host of corporate parties as well as taking individual lessons.

Paul Gendall
Paul has a background as a professional deer manager and ghillie on one of the royal estates and consequently is both DSC 1 and 2 qualified. He is an outstanding shotgun and rifle shooter, Paul has also trained many gun dogs, both for himself and others. He is also a APSI trained instructor.

Howard Joy
A stalwart member of the Team for over 20 years at WLSS, he is a keen game shot and dog handler.


Mickey Rouse

One of the best clay-shots ever and unbeatable in his day. A lightning-quick style of shooting has led to numerous wins including the World, British and English championships.  He has been teaching at West London for over 10 years and he is an accomplished at teaching game shooting as he is the clays.  He is renowned for his entertaining shooting tricks which demonstrate his skills and accuracy.
