Our Team of Expert Instructors
West London Shooting School possesses a superb team of shooting instructors with over 100 years of teaching experience between them.
Alan Rose (Senior Instructor): Alan is arguably the country's best and most famous shooting instructor. He served an apprenticeship under Percy Stanbury and he
has been at the school for over 40 years. His gun fitting knowledge is second to none. Although semi-retired demand for Alan is relentless and he still teaches shooting on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Saturdays.
Pat Burridge: A keen Clay and Game shot for the past 40 years. Alongside Alan Rose, Pat is one of our Senior Gun Fitters, regularly fitting for the likes James Purdey & Son, Boss & Co and William Evans to name but a few. Pat has been shooting for many years and has previously won County titles, been a South East Regional Team Member, represented Buckinghamshire County in Sporting and FITASC events.
Tom Payne: With a background in Agriculture and a passion for pigeon shooting, Tom is now based at West London, but has taken on responsibility for our 'Game Flyer' simulated days from April until July. He is also working on the several new courses we are launching based on the Great Tew Estate in Oxfordshire, notably the new Purdey Grouse Course, Loaders Courses and more for Young Shots. He is also available for lessons in Oxfordshire.
Freelance Shooting Instructors
To meet the demand of all our clients, the West London Shooting School employs a number of outstanding freelance shooting instructors:
- Dave Young: APSI qualified, Member of the Police Shooting Team, Instructing for 6 years, Dave also hosts many corporate shoots at the grounds.
- Mark Swiers: Over 15 years of instruction experience, Mark is a keen Game and Clay shot & works with Tom Payne on our simulated shoots.
- Mark Marshall: Having returned this spring from competing in New Zealand & narrowly missing the spoils, Mark is back at WLSS several days a week for lessons & gun fitting.
- Nick Foster: UK FITASC Team Captain 2000 and Silver Medallist at 2002 British Open.
- Mickey Rouse: Former World Sporting Champion, European FITASC Champion 2001, World ZZ Champion 2002
- Barry Church: Former Sporting Gold Medallist with British Police Team, Instructor for 10 years alongside many years 'keeping and loading
- Howard Joy: Instructing for 15 years with the last 8 of those years at WLSS
- Willie Cole: Former West London instructor also returns to the school to teach for one day each month
- Gerry Todd: 20 years of instructing with the last 14 years at WLSS. Gerry is a keen roe deer stalker and fly- fisherman with extensive knowledge of game shooting
